Katie is a first-time author and a full-time Creative Director at a Chicago advertising agency.
She lives in Oak Park, IL with her husband, two small children, and cat named Ramona Quimby. In her spare time, she can be found sneaking into her daughter’s bedroom to snuggle Harry.
Katie was inspired to write this book when she saw her
six-month-old daughter take to Harry just as she had. Katie was awe-struck by the instant comfort that this blankie brought to her baby, and appreciative that she’d held on to this unconventional and priceless “heirloom” to pass along.
It got her thinking...today, there is so much focus on getting kids to “give up” comfort objects such as teddy bears or blankets. Nobody was telling kids or parents that it was okay to hold onto important items that helped them feel brave and strong. To Katie, that seemed silly.
Life can be overwhelming enough: we all need to hold tight to the things that keep our insides tough.
